This is heavy, Doc!
The heat under the hood reached such high temperatures that an alarm speaker was melted. Even the brand new oil cap was completely fried.
For anyone still wishing to say thank you or donate to Hayze for saving the car from a total loss, you can follow the link to PayPal and say “Thank You Hayze” in the comments. So far we have raised $100.00 for him.
It took a month but all of the insurance paperwork is done. A check is being cut to the DeLorean Motor Company and work will start soon. The cause of the fire is still a mystery but most signs led to a wire falling onto the exhaust and catching fire.
More updates and photos are to come as the car starts its rebuild. Thank you to all of the kind words and thoughts.
