The DeLorean Time Machine was the brain child of Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale for the movie trilogy Back to the Future (1985, Back to the Future Part II (1989), and Back to the Future Part III (1990). Robert and Bob wanted to make a movie about what it would be like to go back in time and meet their parents to see what they were really like.

Idea: Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale

Designer: Andrew Probert

Construction Coordinator of DeLorean: Michael Scheffe

Special Effects Supervisor: Kevin Pike

Although this DeLorean Time Machine is a replica and was never screen used in any of the original Back to the Future movies, it has created an impressive movie/TV career of its own.

PAUL "DOC" NIGH

DeLorean Time Machine Pilot

Paul "Doc" Nigh is the Pilot of the DeLorean Time Machine replica from the movie Back to the Future. To date he has log 100% of all the driving time why in the rally. In 2008 Doc dressed up several days as the character "Doc Nigh" as distant cousin of "Doc Brown" from the famous movie. Doc would regularly enter a city during the fireball Run and spend the first 30 minutes with fans of the DeLorean Time Machine explaining the cause of the Fireball Run and the Race to Recover America's Missing Children.

Paul "Doc" Nigh is a veteran Fireball Competitor from 2008 to present. Doc has a passion for helping to find America's missing children and has vowed to remain a competitor in the Fireball Run Adventurally for as long as he is able too.

For more information see www.fireballrun.com and www.fireballrun.tv

Doc started life as Paul Nigh from Bakersfield California and has lived in the area for over 50 years. After graduating from college in 1976, Paul spent the next few years in a locally well-known area rock band. Paul spent several years in the grocery store industry as a night stocker for a local Vons Store. At age 30 he started a career of Law Enforcement working as a Reserve Sergeant for the Kern County Sheriff's Department leading into his career with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), with over half of the time at the rank of Sergeant. Paul Retired from the Sheriff's Department in 2001 with a life membership and CDCR in 2010. This allowed him to spend more time on finding America's missing children. Paul has a daughter and a grandson, which are the driving force behind Paul's passion for kids. It is this deep love that motivates Paul to make sure that every parent has the same chance to spend time and be with their kids. No child should ever be abducted from a parent in a normal loving relationship. He strongly believes that all abductors should be prosecuted to the fullest extent provided by the law.

Today, Paul (better known by his nickname "DOC") speaks across the nation about the Fireball Run Adventurally and Race to Recover America's Missing Children. He loves to take the Delorean Time Machine to Charity Events and funds his works with the generosity of Corporate showing of the car. In the end Doc says the phrase heard by most all Fireball Competitors, "It's All About the Kids."

REBA "CLARA" PARKINSON

DeLorean Time Machine Co-Pilot

Reba also has a passion for raising awareness of missing children. In 2010, alongside her friend Paul “Doc” Nigh, she co-piloted the DeLorean Time Machine in an event called “The Fireball Run Adventurally" and the "Race to Recover America’s Missing Children.” This multi-vehicle, cross-country event drew large crowds, film crews, news outlets, and gave the participants an opportunity to educate others about missing children in America. This event has been instrumental in recovering 38 of America’s Missing Children.

During the 2011 Fireball Run Adventurally, Reba took on the role of "Clara" from the movie Back to the Future Part III.

THE PAST

In 2005 Danny Botkin, General Manager at the DeLorean Motor Company (DMC), owned and operated by Don and Nancy Steger, started on the building of this outstanding time machine. The construction took two and a half years and was driven away for the DMC in Garden Grove to its new home in Bakersfield California in mid 2007.  It was immediately a hit and started performing shows all throughout California.

In January 2008 it became a member of Nate Truman's "Star Car Central" and started performing charity shows everywhere with many other famous movie and TV vehicles. In 2008 the car made it first appearance in The Fireball Run with Driver Paul "Doc" Nigh and Co-Driver Tim Ferrell, titled "Back to the Track, Part II." A play on the movie "Back to the Future, Part II." The Fireball Run that year was from Baton Rouge, La, to Grand Rapids, Mi. and was a 9 day, 3,500 mile, rally with race courses along the way. Even though the car broke down on the way to the starting line, oddly enough in Bakersfield Texas, and was serviced by the great crew of the DeLorean Motor Company's headquarters in Humble, TX. it made it the rest of the journey without a hitch. Even going on to take two awards. 2nd Place in the Specialty Designs and the top Fireball Award, The Glenn "FIREBALL" Roberts' "Spirit of a Legend" Award. This Award is only given to the team that shows the true spirit of the Fireball Run Adventurally.

In 2009 the Fireball Run was cancelled due to a sluggish economy.

In 2010 The Timecar was back for the Fireball Run's American Heroes Challenge with a new look and a new Co-Pilot, Reba "The Realtor" Parkinson along with Pilot Paul "Doc" Nigh. That year the Timecar broke down in two different cities earning it the "Worst Luck" Award. However, we still took a 1st Place Award in the Hollywood Designs Category. Due to KITT (Knight Rider) getting hit on the journey to the Fireball Run placing it in a storage yard for the duration of the rally, and the other fact that we were the only car in that class, winning a 1st place was a no brainer. However, times being that they are, we proudly took the award.

Team Timecar #15 joined the Fireball Adventurally in 2011 again, with "Doc" and Reba "Clara" Parkinson. The Team, with Peter Corel as the home front strategist searching for clues, did well at the beginning of the rally and fought hard to reach the 1st place in it's category... until (once again)on the last day, a mechanical issue slowed down the Timecar. This time it did not break down with the need to be towed, but had to reduce speed and therefore missing clues and points to keep the pilots safe. The important thing is not only that the team made it to the finish line, it also helped the overall cause of the rally: Helping to find America's missing Children. As "Doc" says: "It's all about the kids!"

THE PRESENT

Lately it seems as if every day we have a show to either perform at or turn down. With movies, TV shows, famous magazines, commercials, music videos and so much more, the DeLorean Time Machine stays busy with over 100 to 150 shows a year. Still spending much of its time performing for charities of all kinds, the DeLorean Time Machine is still partial to helping kid’s organization and is a proud member of TEAMFOX, the Michael J. Fox Foundation for the cure of Parkinson Disease.

THE FUTURE

With the Fireball Run Adventurally just a short time away, the Delorean Time Machine is getting ready for its transformation to TEAM TIMECAR - TEAM #15. Once again the car will be stickered up with sponsors interested in helping us locate the missing children from our local area. Until then it's show time as usual with Star Car Central shows almost every week until the rally.

The DeLorean Time Machine is available for private and public viewing.
